A tour of the Y-Yard marked the beginning of the week, led by President Kelly Roepke. The students were amazed by the operations taking place beyond the fences. Kelly emphasized the significance of organization and quality control to the success of the business.

To foster team building, the class ventured to Champaign, IL. They enjoyed a Chick-Fil-A breakfast while listening to insights from owner/operator Dan Harrison. The group also toured Campus Ink, where they appreciated the knowledge and “merch” shared by Jedd Swisher. The afternoon concluded with a memorable escape room experience.

The class is nearing a decision regarding their business venture after presenting their ideas to the board. Board members offered numerous suggestions that the students had not previously considered. The class was also able to witness how a board meeting is conducted.

The week wrapped up with a visit to Mette Cabinets & Countertops, led by CEO alum Zach Mette. The students enjoyed hearing about Zach’s experiences in the class and observing the operations of the family-owned and run business.
