Maria Kuhns

About Me

Maria Kuhns is a senior at Altamont High School.  She is an active member of Daisy Dolls and Guys 4-H Club and shows a market barrow at the Effingham County Fair every summer. During the past year, she has worked at Durbin Veterinary Clinic in St. Peter. Maria is vice president of  Altamont’s FFA Chapter, and is the vice-president of  Section 20 FFA.  She was installed into the National Honor Society last spring and has been an active pep club and Spanish club member since her freshman year.

"This year in CEO, I hope to build a network of professionals who can help me in my future endeavors. I think I’ll learn what I need to run a successful business, plus so much more. I believe CEO will not only teach me important life lessons, but also will spark a desire to own and operate my own business in Effingham County."

About My Business

Maria Kuhns has launched her silk-flower home-decor business, Botanical Decor. Botanical Decor sells both traditional (in-vase) arrangements and wall-art fixtures created with silk flowers. Her custom made pieces will dress up any home, and add that floral-fresh feeling. A typical piece of household furniture lasts seven years; many much, much longer. Maria's pieces give you a chance to frequently change up the decor of your home without breaking the bank. This fall, Maria will be attending the University of Missouri, where she’ll major in agribusiness management.
