“I am beyond blessed to have the opportunity to be a part of such a special class in CEO. I am very excited to be learning valuable business and life lessons from the business leaders of Effingham County. I can’t wait to see my fellow classmates and I learn and grow as individuals and find success in our future endeavors.”
About My Business
Being on the go all the time, Alex was running into a problem, because his phone kept running out of battery. After being tired of carrying around a bulky and awkward portable charger everywhere, he decided there had to be a better way, so Alex Beesley cofounded Helios Wallets with Jacob Guy. Helios offers an innovative yet slim wallet with a portable charger built in so you can easily carry your money, cards, and an extra charge everywhere you go. You can contact Alex and Jacob at helioswallets@gmail.com for inquiries or to learn more. Alex plans to attend Emory or Duke University next year to study on a pre-med track. My Featured Journal Entries
Rick Siemer and Carl Schwinke from Siemer MIlling presenting on Hedging in the marketplace.
"I really wasn’t sure what to think of this presentation going in, but it was fascinating. I actually learned a lot about the commodity business that day. Most people have probably heard about commodity markets and futures, but they don’t have any idea what those things mean. This presentation did a good job explaining these concepts, so I could understand the process. There is a lot that goes into that part of the business, and it can get very complicated, but the overall principles are pretty simple and always stay the same. To minimize risk, you always must stay balanced by selling when you buy and buying when you sell."

"On Wednesday, we had our business visit to Weidman Cleaners. Going into the day, I didn’t know what to think. I had seen the business countless times driving by, but never really thought anything of it until that day. When we got into the tour, I was blown away. I especially liked Nathan. I liked how he was so enthusiastic and passionate about what he does. As we walked through the store, I was shocked to see all that goes into dry cleaning clothes. What really stood out to me about Weidman’s specifically was their attention to detail. I was extremely impressed how they went the extra mile in everything they do to try to take care of your clothes the best way possible."
