Dunavun Goeckner

About Me

Dunavun Goeckner isa senior at Dieterich High School, where he is an active member in FFA. Last year, during FFA's fruit-sales campaign, Dunavun was the champion, raising money for his chapter. In his free time he enjoys riding four-wheelers and horseback riding with his family. Dunavun works daily after school in his family’s business, Goeckner Backhoe Service, and also helps out at Higgs Welding.

"I’m hoping the CEO class will open my eyes to business opportunities, potential business relationships, and will help raise my maturity level. I am excited about this year and about the new experiences I am should gain through this class."

About My Business

Dunavun Goeckner’s business is Goeckner Custom Fabrication. This is a welding service that repairs small household items, as well as fixing large agriculture and construction equipment. Dunavun also sells retail items, and Goeckner Custom Fabrication will produce any item that is needed by a customer. CEO has been a great experience for Dunavun. It has pushed him to become a better leader, more responsible, and to become more organized with his work. CEO has given him the opportunity to grow personally, and he’s learned a lot about the Effingham business community. Dunavun said: “If not for CEO, I wouldn’t be the person I am today. I certainly wouldn’t have pursued my passion of owning my own welding business. I thank CEO for what it has done and what it will do for me in the feature.” Dunavun will be attending Lakeland for two years to obtain an associate degree in pre engineering. He’ll follow up with a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering at SIU-C. His plans after collage are to start up a welding shop in the Effingham area, or to return to his family’s business, Goeckner Backhoe.
